Casual Sketching

One of my favorite blogs is Liz Steel's which you can see here.
She is about to go on a trip for a few weeks and is planning to take 8 sketchbooks. EIGHT! I am pretty sure my whole life I am barely over the eight sketchbook mark. Unbelievable.
Less internet surfing...more sketching. That's what I say.

Today

What I learned today while I was running what felt like a million errands:
1. 100 degrees outside means 120 degrees in the parked car.
2. One bottle of water is not enough. I should have a camelbak.
3. Most people driving are also on their cell phone.
4. Caribou coffee is terrible.
5. But their napkins are way cool:

1. Good food
2. Good wine
3. Good coffee
4. Good friends
(not necessarily in that order)
5. And I literally stay awake for the rerun of Iron Chef every
Sunday night because it rocks.

What do YOU stay awake for?

Musings

Today I was running at this lake near my house and I had a revelation. Actually, I should call it a REVELATION. It was that good. I usually get some good stuff when I work out, which should be good incentive to do it more often.

Right.

Anyway, back to the REVELATION.

I realized how much I love the breeze that comes off the water.
At this lake, at other lakes, particularly at the ocean.
And my REVELATION was this:

The WIND can move so freely across the surface of the water because there
is no LAND clogging up the space.

I will say it again louder:

The WIND can move so freely across the surface of the water because there
is no LAND clogging up the space.

Things are cleansed in that wind.

Things are birthed in that wind.

There is CREATIVITY in that wind.

***********

I want all my LAND to be flooded, overflowing, spilling out, running over, draining into the peripherals so that the WIND can move freely.

Architecture

I am so fascinated with architecture sometimes. I really enjoy drawing it...

The apartments are not the most interesting, but there is something about the lines of the buildings that I enjoy. After I scanned this I realize how flat it looks and remembered that I wanted to add color to it, which is why I didn't do any shading.
What a difference that would make.
